Educator Training / Professional Development
Dancing With Class™ is an ISBE-authorized CPDU provider and we offer training for educators that focuses on our specific methodologies for teaching dance to young people. Our training is perfect for P.E. and arts/music teachers who intend to make dance a regular part of their curriculum. In addition, training for classroom teachers who wish to extend the benefits of a classroom residency or infuse their instruction with movement-based activities can benefit greatly. We occasionally hold Professional Development seminars in our studio, and frequently create customized, on-site PDs for schools and other organizations.
PD sessions typically combine active movement with reflective project-based activities. Participants are provided with supplemental educational materials that enable them to extend the arts residency benefits to other student populations and integrate the program with core curriculum (language arts, social studies, physical education), with a goal of making the art of social dance a part of school culture.
PD sessions are typically facilitated by 1-2 leaders with group sizes ranging from 6-50. Duration and scope is customized to the needs of the site, typically anywhere from 1-6 hours. Contact us to discuss the options.
